Sports: Antoine Griezmann set to leave Atletico Madrid this summer

The forward has told the Spanish club he will be leaving this summer. The France star signed a contract extension of 5 years last summer but said he is leaving the club in a video posted to their twitter account.

In his words (translated) " It's been an incredible five years here; thanks for everything, from the bottom of my heart"

The move comes amids rumours of a new bid from Barcelona for Griezmann, who turned down the Blaugrana's advances last summer before going on to help France lift the World Cup in Russia.

Barcelona are reportedly willing to pay a 125 million Euro release clause for Griezmann to join ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Catalans were in hot pursuit of Griezmann last year, but the France star opted to sign a new contract with Atletico through 2023, announcing his intention in a televised special called " La Decision".
But the 28-year old has now jad a change of heart, and will depart the club he joined from Real Sociedad in 2014.

A Pregnant Woman, Nine Others Injured During Stampede At Ihedioha's Inauguration

A pregnant woman and nine others were injured in a stampede during the inauguration of Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha's on Wednesday in Owerri. A member of the medical team for the inauguration, Dr. Francis Igwe, confirmed the figure to the News Agency of Nigeria in Owerri. The cause of the stampede was as a result of huge crown which besieged the Dan Anyiam Stadium, which is the venue of the inauguration. Dr. Igwe however, said that the victims were revived. He told NAN that the medical team led by Dr. Vin Udokwu were proactive to handle the situation. In his words, " When we saw the crowd l, we suspected that there may be an emergency situation; we quickly put out personnel and equipment together just to get ready, " he said. It was reported that before the inauguration, a woman had fainted and was carried away from the field by medical personnel on a stretcher.
