President Muhammadu Buhari has promised the APC government will take 100 million Nigerians from poverty to prosperity in the next 10 years. Buhari disclosed this in his opening speech at the inaugural June 12, Democracy Day celebration on Wednesday in Abuja. A journalist with Port Harcourt-based Niheria Info radio station, Kofi Bartel's, is currently recuperating in hospital after being allegedly tortured by personnel of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Rivers State. Bartel's said he suffered a swollen knee after he was hit sevwrall times with wooden bars by the policemen during an incident at Mgbuoba in the Obio/Akpo Local Government Area of the the state. He explained that trouble started on Tuesday when he noticed that the SARS personnel wanted to arrest a boy, whose mother was selling bean cake(Akara) along the road. Bartels told Southern City News through a text message, " I drove out of my compound to see them trying to arrest a boy, who lives in the area. His mum fries akara for a living. Cristiano Ronaldo Rape Lawsuit Dropped- Report

The rape lawsuit against Juventus star Cristiano Rinaldo has been dropped, according to a report from Bloomberg on Wednesday. A notice voluntary dismissal was filled last month in Neveda state court in Las Vegas. In September 2018, Kathryn Mayorga, now 34, claimed the Juventus player had attacked her in the penthouse of a Las Vegas hotel in 2009 when she was 25 and was paid $375,000 in hush money. She said she was forced to sign a non-disclosure agreement by Ronaldo's lawyers at the time, but reopened the case and filed charges in Las Vegas, demanding $200,000 in damages. Katheryn had now ended her lawsuit, meaning the Juventus attacker can now draw a line under this chapter. According to Bloomberg, a notice of voluntary dismissal was reportedly filed in May in a Nevada State Court in Las Vegas, but the reasons for it are not clear at the time as the filing does not say whether a settlement was reached with the Portuguese superstar regarding the rape case.

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he decided to ban transgender Americans from serving I'm the military because they take a " massive amounts of drugs". Trump told Britain's ITV television in a wide-ranging interview that the military had strict rules regulating the use of prescription drugs. "They take massive amounts of drug s, they have to, and you are not allowed to take drugs, you are in the military, you are not allowed to take any drugs, " Trump said. "And they have to, after the operation they have to, they have no choice." The ban went into force in April following a protracted legal battle that went all the way to the US Supreme Court. The Pentagon says the restrictions are not a blanket ban. But they do bar an overwhelming majority of people who identify as transgender from enlisting. Switzerland Sues Nigeria Over Detained Tanker Vessel

Nigeria has been dragged to the international court by Switzerland over the detention of a tanker vessel for over a year and four months. The ship, crew and cargo have been under detention off Port Harcourt. In a statement, the Swiss Foreign Ministry disclosed that it had since May 21 requested the International Tribunal in charge of the Law of the Sea to order Nigeria to release the tanker vessel, its crew and cargo. The tanker vessel was arrested for entering Nigerian waters illegally and trafficking on diesel. However, the captain of the ship had denied the allegations, saying he had all papers covering him and the transactions. Some cre members, except four Ukrainians, had already been allowed to leave the ship which has the capacity for 5,500 tonnes of cargo. Oando Plc's share price had dropped by 9.52 per cent on Monday, after the Securities and Exchange Commission ordered the resignation of the company's Group Chief Executive Officer and other affected board members. SEC also made an announcement on Sunday night that it had set up an interim management team, headed by a former Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, to oversee the affairs of Oando. Boko Haram Insurgents Attack Military Bases In Borno, Steal Arms

There was multiple attacks on military bases in Borno state carried out by Boko Haram Insurgents on Monday. According to Security sources, the insurgents overran three of them and stole weapons. Fighter believed to be from the Isamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), the IS-linked faction of Boko Haram, stormed four bases from Friday through Sunday in the latest spate of attacks targeting the army, sources from the military and militia said. No immediate details on casualties as at when this information was reported. The insurgents made a failed attempt to seize a base in the town of Dikwa on Sunday, following a predawn attack. According to a military officer, who did not want to be identified, "The terrorists attacked troops in Dikwa around 4:00am but the attack was repelled without casualty on our side," A second officer also said that the fighters came 13 truck fitted with heavy machine guns.
