Feeling Depressed? Try these 7 Things To Help Kill Depression

Depression is a common "sickness" in Nigeria today especially among the youths. No wonder the issue of Suicide has become an everyday headline news. We must understand that depression is psychological and  are caused by our emotions, but there are things we should to boost our mental fitness.

Before you conclude on doing something you cannot retrieve, here are 7 helpful things you should do to curb depression.

1. Exercise Regularly: Yes, exercise boost our mental fitness. You can decide to take a walk or jog daily. Do some aerobics, push ups, just anything to get your blood pumping. Physical activity can help increase the levels of "feel good" chemical in your brain. Stand up from your boredom of sitting down and doing nothing.

2. Have a conversation or hangout  with friends:  Most suicidals refused to hangout and talk to friends. They feel no one can help their situations. You need to free yourself and hangout with friends, tell them about your challenges. It will help ease your worries.

3. Know the kind of friends you surround yourself with: Point 2 says you should talk to friends but you have to know who really your friends are. Some friends are a**holes that can even trigger your depression by making mockery of your situations. Sometimes we feel we are worthless just because we are surrounded by idiots. These kind of friends are emotionally manipulative. Analyze your friends and discard the ones that will put you in trouble.

4. Write or Draw Anything: I have been in a depressed situation at one point and that was when I discover I could write fictional stories. You can just pick a pen and just draw anything, at this point you can even write out the solutions to your problems.

5. Sing aloud! Scream!: Music is life. You can sing out your worries when you listen to the right song. Play a song and start singing, cry, scream! You are not crazy.

6. Tidy up your room/house: You may want to keep your room clean at this point. An untidy environment instigates depression. When you look around you and see that things are not in order, you will get more annoyed and even become aggressive. A clean environment can do wonders in your state of mind.

7. Lastly, you need to go for counseling: After you must have done all 6 points above, you should consider counseling for further advice to cope with things you are going through. You can speak to your parents if you live with one for support.

Say No to Suicide. There is always a way out of Depression!!!
